Stories of Desert Aire Applications
 
 
Over the past few years Desert Aire has worked with industry publications to publish case histories / studies. These articles review difficult applications and how Desert Aire solved serious HVAC and humidity issues.
 
Aqua-magazine-pool.gif Indoor Pools, Potential Problems? - Aqua Magazine published "Indoor Pools, Potential Problems?" by Barrett Kilmer in August 2008. The article focuses on the issues many indoor pools suffer from, including everything from the architecture of the building to the air within the room to the chemicals in the pool. Throughout the article Keith Coursin, President of Desert Aire, is quoted along with other industry professionals for their knowledge on all of these. Read full article.
 
Intrepid-Unit.gif Intrepid - July 1, 2008, Engineered Systems published the article, "Rehab On the Fast Track," written by Timothy D. Baker P.E., LEED® AP. The article features a military rehab facility near San Antonio, TX where injured soldiers can rehabilitate in a state-of-the-art facility. One portion of the facility which includes a six-lane training pool (natatorium) and a FlowriderTM used Desert Aire dehumidifiers to meet the dehumidification needs. Read full article
 
Athletic-Business-Pool-Image.gif Dry Runnings - In November 2007, Athletic Business published the article "Dry Runnings" by Paul Steinbach. "Dry Runnings" discusses the differences and similarities pool areas and ice arenas have when it comes to humidy problems. Desert Aire's Northeast Regional Sales Manager, Harry Milliken, shares his opinions and knowledge regarding these issues. Read full article.
   
KC--Biz-journal.gif "Air Quality Issues Boost Desert Aire" - In July of 2007 The Business Journal of Milwaukee published this article about Desert Aire's partnership with AeroClave LLC. The equipment had just been cleared by the Federal Aviation Administration and the first production model was scheduled for manufacturing. Holiday Inn - HPAC Engineering published the case history, "New Cooling-Coil Dehumidifier Helps Clean Up ‘Mess’ of Hotel Pool Area" in January of 2007. The hotel featured in the article had a variety of humidity related problems in their pool room that was caused by an outdated HVAC unit. By replacing the old unit with a Desert Aire dehumidifier the hotel not only improved the air quality in the pool area but also improved their energy savings. Read full article.

Denny's Restuarant - Originally published December 1, 2006 in Engineered Systems, "Texas Denny’s Restaurant Takes Humidity Off its Menu," spotlighted a troubled restuarant that had more than just a few problems. The humidity inside the Texas restuarant was so great the wallpaper was peeling off and shampooed carpets took days to dry. They needed a dehumidifier that would not only keep the inside air dry, but also cool at the same time. Read full article.
 
AeroClave-plane.gif "Poised to Fight Flu in Big Way"- June 18, 2006 the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published this article about the work Desert Aire was doing with AeroClave on their decontamination units. These units pump excessive heat and humidity, much higher than that of the rain forest, into the area needing to be decontaminated. They can be used for airplanes, emergency vehicles and any other closed off structure needed decontamination. Read full article.

Barclay Friends - On March 26, 2006 Engineered Systems published "Dehumidification Restores Senior Community’s 'Warm, Home-like' Environment." Barlcay Friends Senior Community had a system that brought the outdoor air in, but didn't dehumidify it. Desert Aire units were installed to work in conjunction with the existing units to dehumidify the outdoor air brought into the space. Read full article.
 
Wood-County.gif Wood County - March 25, 2005, Engineered Systems ran the case history, "Lockup to Library: Dehumidifiers Help Transition of Historic Building." Wood County was originally built as a jailhouse in Bowling Green, OH in 1902 but was later transformed into an archive and library. The transition was quite tedious and required the installation of HVAC equipment that would not disrupt the exterior walls of the 100-year-old building. Read full article.

 DA-QS-99-Rooftop-Unit.gif  DOAS vs Standard A/C - In March 2010, RSES Journal published the article, "Comparing Direct-expansion DOAS Units and Standard A/C Equipment," written by Desert Aire's Service Manager, Mark Potter.  The detailed article goes much farther than just the similarities and differences of the two by covering some of the major attributes of DX-DOAS including airflow.  To read this full article, please click here
